I just realised that the lovely flowers I bought for myself are still on the dining room table. I’d forgotten about them in the rush of day-to day (not to mention I’ve been avoiding the pile-up of papers and books, also on the table.) It’s a grey, rainy, slushy day and I think it’s time to contemplate the daisies. Maybe with a cup of tea.
And in other news, I just finished my first ever pair of fingerless mittens! The least practical woolen item a Canadian can knit – just warms the palm of your hand, the part that never gets cold. But cute as a button and fun to knit up!
The mittens are beautiful. Great with thin leather gloves. Looks like quite an intricate pattern. And the flowers are a perfect pick me up. Yay, spring!
I like those mittens! Sort of a fashion statement. Yes, that pattern is so nice, all fancy!!
Isn’t it hard to buy flowers for yourself? I have thought about it before, but I am not home enough to enjoy them. That’s not a good enough excuse. is it?
Thanks, Claudia. Leather gloves – good idea (what are the chances I can find a pair at Value Village… slim, I imagine. A good quest.)
Margaret, I never bought myself flowers for ages, since they were just something else to tidy around and throw out a week later when they died. But they sit so nicely on the dining room table, I enjoy them over breakfast!
I like fingerless gloves. I like that they keep my wrists and hands warm but I can still grip the steering wheel with my fingers. I can’t afford good leather driving gloves and regular mittens are too slippy. You can always tuck your fingers in if they get chilly.
Turns out, in this spring-y weather, I’ve been wearing them a lot! They seem the perfect thing for this mild weather.
There are lots of lovely leather gloves at VV…I have even found them in great colours looking like new. Come to think of it, I may have a colour to match your chic mitts.
Good ol’ V.V.!
